removing rear sc flares installing long hood again
we are putting the 72 back to stock.. previous owner installed metal sc flares on the rear.
we have partial quarter panels from a 75.. we are concerned about dimensions the sc flares have a definative line in an arc that we can remove them at that location but not sure how to measure to cut an install the 75's any tricks for this? or somewhere to get the exact measurements?

nothing specific. just lots of comparing and measurements. check the vertical angle of the wheel opening lip. measure edge of lip to taillight pocket. check t-bar hole placement. get low and look at it side-on. check height at top wheel opening. and my comments above apply to this as well. |

there are just no measuring points on some thing round with compound curves .
it's all just eye balling and finding the natural way it fits . cut new flares leaving as much as need be then just trim the ones on the car back a little . place the new flares over the panel as so it lays flat on it . scribe a cut line and remove the new flare cut leaving a little extra over lap of the two panels . then place the new flare back and double check fitment and placement . if it's all good and your happy then check the scribe line to be sure it's still the cut line you want and cut to give you a good butt point for your welding . cut on the lower side of your scribe line . and place and again check fitment before you start your welding . |

flares
the flares on the car have a line that i can trace from where they were added. That seems to be the location where they begin to flare more than the stock ones..

at that point do they look as if they would naturally fit the shape from one to the other ?
if so it maybe the best place to graft the new ones on ? |
