78 SC - small surface rust spots question

My 78 SC has a half dozen small spots on the exterior where the paint is either chipped through or somehow worn through. None are bigger than a half dollar. Some are along the hood edges or door edges. One concerns me that looks like a bubble of rust along the edge of the rear window seal.

I don't plan on painting the car for 2 or 3 years, but would like to attend to these small spots now. Normally, I would sand them down and prime them and let it be until I got around to a full paint job. But, with the galvanized body, I am concerned about sanding off the protective coat.

Suggestions?

every one is so concerned about the galvanized coating porsche uses .
it's nothing special or different then every other auto makers !
you touch it in any way with sand paper at it's sanded right off the car .
to replace it you use a epoxy or etch primer !
if you have rust the galvanized coating is long gone were the rust is and for about a 1/4 inch around it .
primer in no way will stop the rust from coming back !
primer doesn't hold out any moisture at all in any way you will need to got some type of top coat on the primer .

Thanks 962. I just want to make sure I understand. Go ahead and remove any rust with sand paper, then prime with an etch primer, then top coat the primer. Might looks spotty until I do a proper paint job but that will be ok until then?

Go get some two part epoxy primer and paint, it will hold up better than spray cans especially if your gonna wait 2 or 3 years to paint your car. You'll need more than sandpaper to remove as much rust as possible.

that is some thing if you can't get the rust off by sanding you may want to think about spot blasting with a hand held blaster or use a rust convertor on .
