Need Advice on Paint Selection: Tangerine

Well, my 69 E is nearing the magic time to enter the paint shop. The car's original color is Tangerine. I plan on driving the car regularly to shows and events. My understanding is that for longevity and ease of care, and protection from the environment that two stage is the way to go. For absolute true original finish, a single stage Glasurit is the "must have". I also understand that the "real" Glasurit isn't even close to what's available today under the guise of original Glasurit. So with all that being said. What is the best direction to go in? Which companies paint should I use if I go two stage? Which is the correct white/yellow primer color to use under the tangerine top coat? Looking for experienced opinions from the experts...Thanks

with a car your not using as your daily driver it makes no difference if it's B/C or S/S ! will it be seeing the same weather as your daily driver ? so S/S will be just fine to paint the car in and the proper finish . as for care this to makes no difference there isn't any difference with that also you wash and wax the car in the same way . if you were looking to use the same equal product as your old 1969 Porsche you would use BASF's limco supreme plus S/S paint because your thinking of B/c for a coating keeping the finish close to what was used by Porsche back then is not a concern with you . so you could go with BASF's S/S glasurit 22 line . if you wanted to do B/C then you could use there 55 line or 90 line water borne system . any coating S/S or B/C will only last 8 to 10 years for a daily driven car . they both will fail but only in different ways so in reality the two types of coating really makes no difference in how long a finish will last or your care of the coats . the problem is not longevity the problem comes into play when and if you have to do a repair and repaint to a car that is in single stage . not many shops even know how to paint S/S products . so to blend out a color they have to do it in B/C simply because they DON'T know how to do it in S/S . then once this is done your finish will not have the same look to at as a S/S 69 finish should . | ||

Keep your newly painted car in the shade as much as possible and it will look as good as the day you painted it for many years. I used Diamont B-C on my Prussian blau 3.2 and its clear coat is as rich and creamy as the day i painted it 9 years prior. I keep it in the shade as much as possible. If you have to DD yours, get a good UV cover and use it while parked at work.
