Outer bright work, DYI on how to refinish?
I have a 72 that has fine scratches on the outside of door frame, 1/4 window and door top trim strip.
This is the type of work k ing of trim does to make your brightwork look new. I have a local plating company that can remove the anodization, and can re anodize. There are even questions on if it is totally aluminum. Here is what I have been told on how you do it.. By taking the window door frame you would remove the anodization. Then it would get polished to remove fine scratches. Then back to re anodize to protect the trim. One of the polishers said that this looked like it was "bright dipped". He said use a wadding polish ( never dull type ). Can anyone set me straight on how to get the outer bright work to look new again, but OEM. MANY THANKS..

If you are interested in a cheaper option to King of Trim, try Shaun Budka at Tru6. He does this work also. Shaun@tru-6.com. I just sent all my trim to him. Jason

I now have totally polished brightwork, Door frames, 1/4 windows, trim strip's on top of door.
I have several options to go. 1) get it re anodized . Not practicable so it is out. 2) clear coat it with something TBD. 3) leave polished and perhaps covered with a sealshine type product... I know it oxidizes quickly regardless of the method. If it was polished would a new owner like that or not?

Something I have been considering for when I address my window trim is polishing and finishing with clear or matte powder coat. I understand that many factory alloy wheels are finished in clear powder coat and they seem to hold up well to the abuse. Not sure how it might look but that may be option
