dissecting paint code

I have a 72 911T with a paint plaque that reads 131 8-2.... I found the 131 is Light Ivory and that the 2 means type of paint. What does the 8 mean?...tks

8 is for coach builder karmann, the 1,2 & 3 designate the paint vendor

8 does not stand for Karmann; it is not known for certain what facility it stands for.
Only a few 1972 cars were painted a facility 8, but the majority of 1973 911RS were.
