My new 944 with rust.
Hi guys,
So my new 944 has problem areas in the bottom of the fenders. Seems that the prior owners did not clean out the dirt very often. The bottom of the fenders has rusted through. Otherwise it is a nice car. I dont want to remove the fenders to get replacement ones and would preferably avoid to cut the fenders and weld in new metal. Are there any good products on the market to deal eith problems like this? I believe that the affected area is to big to use some puddy or epoxy only. Thanks in advance. |

the rust is common there . it's not from dirt being held in the fenders it's from the chip guard being sandblasted off the outer side .
VW didn't apply enough chip guard so the mil build is not as heavy as on the cars that were built in the porsche plant . as for the fix you do it once and do it right ! we all would love a quick fix product but sadly there isn't one . cut the area out were the rust eat thru the panel and weld in new metal . sand blast off the rest of the surface rust and be done with it . when you take short cuts and it comes back in a few years most every time your end up with more of a mess to repair and at a much greater cost . |
