Just Picked-up Two 356's and ....
Hey 356 experts, I just picked-up a 1960 356B w/sunroof, and a 1965 356 SC from a guy who bought an entire estate out of probate here in Northern California. He had no interest in the cars so I was able to buy both for $5500. They are complete, rust free, and in fairly good overall condition. (2 extra 1600cc motors too!)
They've been sitting in a barn/shop (with a concrete floor) for 10+ years and they had the dust on them to prove it! Not a bad deal but they do need to be gone through to bring them up to drivable and/or showable standards. My question right now is what were the notable differences between the 1965 'C' and the 1965 'SC'? (brakes, suspension, engine, transaxle, etc) I don't have enough knowledge about these cars yet, so I need to rely on some of you experts to help. I can answer lots of 928 and 914 questions, but little to none for the 356! Thanks,

Thanks for the info re. available literature. Wow, there's bunch of it!
Do you know if the factory '65 SC had a limited slip transaxle or was that an option for all models? Doug

A limited-slip differential WAS a factory option for the 356-C's,
1964/65. See a complete listing of Porsche 356 Factory Accessories, some with pictures, at my website: http://members.aol.com/Porchrat/356PorscheAccessoriesMainPage.html Much more 356 Porsche technical and other information at my main website at: http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/derwhite/Derwhites356LiteraturePage.htm Regards, Charlie White Scottsdale, Arizona |
