Quick questions for the 356 guys

I am so close to being able to start my 356 (912) engine I can smell it. Here's a few I can't find answers to:

I need to run the spark plug wires from the plugs to the dizzy, what is the order?

On the fuel pump, I have two barbs coming out of the pump. One points towards the rear of the car, the other towards the front. Which one gets the fuel line from the tank, which one goes to the carbs?

My generator doesn't have a strap around the part where the wires connect. Should I have a strap there to protect it?

Thanks all,

Strap is there to secure it - if it wobbles, I would think it would screw up the big important fan. Maybe also act as a ground. Got duct tape and/or bungee cord? The firing order is clockwise and 1 4 3 2 on the distributer, and #1 is marked wiht a notch. #1 cyl is forward passenger side, #2 is back passenger, #3 is forward driver side, and #4 is back driver side. I have a late C, so our fuel pumps are different... Maybe post on 356talk?

I have the strap that secures it to the generator stand but closer to the rear there is an opening on the generator, should there be a strap over this area to protect the insides from getting oil and dirt in them?

Thanks by the way for the plug wire info. That's a great help.

Ah... I think there is a plate that is supposed to cover that opening... you should be OK to run without it for a while. There was some discussion on 356talk about it, but I can't search my archive very easily ATM...

The generator is a VW part, and VW never had a strap over the generator brushes. Well, they did waaaay back in the 40's and maybe early 50's. The last 22.4 million air cooled VW's didn't have one.
Maybe look around for one, in the VW crowd they're expensive- because they're for the OLD cars? Dont know.
You have a small diameter generator?
If so a friend of mine has one, I will find out what he wants for it if you're interested.

look close at the fuel pump, sometimes theres arrows to indicate flow.
Usually the more "up" angled one goes to the carbs.
