Ready to install engine, have hardware question

Hi

Not having alot of 356 experiance I need some help. I have just put the final touches on the engine for my 59, and am ready to install it. As I bought the car as a project, with the engine out, I dont have the engine mounting hardware, nore do I know what to use. Can any one tell me the specifications? I believe the bottom hardware is studs threaded into the engine case, and nuts, but I am not sure. If so, are they graded studs? The engine is up on a stand, and I do not know if the studs that are holding the engine to the stand at the bottom are the origional mounting studs that should be used to secure the engine to the transmission. I need to know the size, length and grade of the proper studs, and what nuts, lockwashers etc, are to be used. At the top mounts is it a bolt and nut? Also does the top bolt on the right side also hold the starter motor? Do the bolts go in from the front or back? What is the size, length and grade of the bolts required? Your help is appreciated, as I have to get this car together, running and sold. Also Is it absolutely necessary to use swepco or Brad Penn oil in these engines. I use Kendall 20-50 in my 911's is that acceptable??

I want to get the engine installed this weekend, so your help would be much appreciated.

Not sure on the specs for the 4 bolts, but I do know that they have a 17mm head. You'll want to put a hose clamp or similar around the nut too, so it catches and will allow you to tighten/loosen without the nut just spinnign wtih the bolt.

Bolts go in from the engine compartment side, the process is the exact same as a VW ...

As for oil, the worst oil today (FLAPS brand on sale @ 150/qt) is better than just about everything that was available when our old cars were new... try and avoid detergents in it, and you probably want to avoid synthetic - until the late 90s the various seal and gasket kits for 356 engines couldn't handle the synthetic and bad things would happen...

BTW - on my '65 C, the Napa Gold 1010 oil filter is great - the gasket that comes with it fits my canister better than the one that comes with the super expensive Fram filters... and the Napa filter is dirt cheap.
