Timing Light 12V to test a 6V 356 ?
Is it possible to use a 12v timing light on a 6v 356 engine this way ?
I plan to use an external 12v battery to power the timing light while testing a 356 engine that has a 6v electrical system. I think that the 12 v will power the light and it will not have any effect on the inductive pick up. Is it safe to do this or there is a possibility that I will break or burn something ? |

Your idea to use a external 12 volt battery is correct. I did it that way for years no problems.
