Hello 356!

Hi,

I am new here. I used to have a B-T6 before when I lived in Hawaii and sold it to a gentleman in there 7 yrs ago. But now I am looking for one to own. I am currently looking at this one on ebay. Porsche : 356 Porsche : 356 - eBay (item 230744158558 end time Feb-14-12 08:53:24 PST)

What do guys think about this car?

Thanks in advance.

BW

That is a LOT of $$ for a heavily modified car with a modified 914 engine. The front clip seems to have gotten jacked at one point - front end collision? White paint hides a LOT of problems.

Mirrors are incorrect. It has C brakes (not a bad thing) and C vent windows. Looks like it was a euro car originally (reflectors under the bumper) - i.e. beware of corrosion! Looks like some welding was already done on the undercarriage.

I hope you don't need heat because the heater control is missing (it probably has no heater boxes anyway). Ditto on the windshield squirters. The bottle and the ffoot pump are missing.

Other than that the pics tell very little.

East coast as well - CT isn't exactly known for their rust free cars ....and you are in CA?? I'd personally look for something closer to home or pay for a very thorough PPI by someone that knows these cars well.

Look under the front bumper. That front is messed up. To low and a bulge. That car would be real loud. Interior does look pretty good. Brakes a good upgrade. Engine a good upgrade if it comes with the original engine which the add said it did.

Check out the 356 registry cars for sale. They always have some good ones.

Thanks for the head ups.

Also the passenger side front fender arch looks odd to me. I liked an idea of having a 914 engine in as a driver but.... I will stay away from this one and look around in my area.

Are you looking for a particular model year? The saying goes the later the model year the more refined the cars became. I personally love the look of the early cars and would have pursued them had I known what to look for. Those A and pre A with the lower bumper contoured to the front of the car are sweet. If that car came with a later engine upgraded brakes all the better.

Are you looking at it as a future investment, or a car you will actually drive? Then there is the degree of the drive part . Is it a garage queen that goes for short Sunday drives, car shows, what do you want? It is out there. Take your time. You haven't had one in all this time find one that fits the bill. Many of us have spent untold amounts of money getting exactly the "look" we want.
