Heater valve disassembly?
A customer brought this collection of 356 parts in today for powdercoating.
![]() My main concern is the heater valves ... I can't see how they can be disassembled. The valve butterfly has a rubber seal which obviously won't handle powdercoating temperatures, so I'd like to disassemble the butterfly shaft and plate, however, it looks like the shaft and plate are spot welded together. As it happens, I did the valves in my own Carrera last week and they can be fully dismantled, but it seems this isn't possible on these 356 valves. Am I correct? ![]() If there is no easy way to disassemble the valve, we will just sandblast it and customer will wet paint it. Suggestions? Don't worry, we won't be powdercoating the exhaust pipes or the brackets that have bonded rubber pads (engine mounts?). ![]() Everything will be satin black except for the fan housing which will be light grey.

Correct on the flapper box dis-assembly. You can powder coat the J tubes, if you wish. The exhaust temps will change the coating later but still add protection.
