Help! Ignition points.
Have a 1600 356B engine that has been sitting for about 20 years. Running when parked. Would like to try to get her started but need some tips on cleaning the ignition points Etc. If anyone knows a good article or list of things I should go through prior to turning the key please let me know!
Thanks! |

It goes beyond cleaning the points if it's been sitting for 20 yrs...
First of all, does it turn freely by hand? Fresh oil and filter? Fresh fuel, filter and gas lines? Carbs checked and cleaned - working floats and clear jets? Fresh belt? Fresh battery and regulator check? Check ignition points, dizzi cap and timing? Check plugs and cables? If all of those are YES, crank it first with the coil cable to the dizzi off and let it built oil pressure w/o firing... if all good, reconnect the coil and GO FOR IT! Go to the 356 Registry and do a search... you'll find lots of informative stuff there. M2c And most of it - Good luck! |

Carbs will probably have to be redone so will the fuel pump.
