Every spring/summer it really does amaze me..
Started the old car up after sitting for 6 months and it fired after 3 turns of the crank. Every year it's the same thing, me wondering if its going to start. But each year it always surprises me. She smokes some which is normal after sitting, and off she goes, almost like she was started up every weekend/day for the past 6 months.

I’m the same way with maybe a little less of a time interval. But a few months could go by. My 930 is like a light switch…it almost starts before a full crank it feels. SC is a chug chug chug vrooooom.
I’d be curious to know if you have any overly elaborate starting rituals for after a long sit. I’ve read that some pull fuel pump relay and bring up oil pressure. I’ve also read some pulling distributor wire and doing the same. I typically just say a few words and turn the key. |

My SC has been the same through 10 years of ownership.
Make sure there is a decent charge in the battery and fire it up. Very little smoke on startup. Always amazes me that a 35 year old car starts so well after so much storage time. When I was had synthetic oil in it, it leaked more during storage than it does with dyno oil in it.

My 87 usually sits for 3+ months in a heated garage. On a battery minder some of the time and I try to put some fuel stabilizer in the last gas fill. Hasn't failed the start test yet, 10 winters and counting.

15 years with my SC and always amazes me. Battery tender, good tire pressure and drop some marine stabil in the tank and fill it up. Always starts and runs just the way I left it.
I’ve done the pull the coil wire thing to build oil pressure once and I felt more risk that I would break something on the dist or coil wire itself vs. harm the engine. Just start it. |

My car sits in the dead of Chicago winter. I charge the battery first, I then turn key to on position and wait until I cant hear the fuel burbling in the tank, I then try and fire her. I keep the tank half full before I put her to bed, I don't use stabil or heat.
