Blaupunkt Radio
am seeking your help in reinstalling the Blaupunkt radio in my 1973 911 Porsche which I purchased in 1985.
I removed the radio shortly after the purchase along with a host of electronic sensors and car alarms. The radio had thee separate units two of which are shown in the attached pictures. The third unit which I cannot find had a microphone connected to it which I never used. The first picture show the radio propped up with the second unit. The left hand knob shows the on/off/volume and behind it is the treble control which hopefully I can find from a Blaupunkt dealer. The second picture shows the rear of the radio on top of the second unit. The black cable exits from the upper left corner of the radio and ends in the black female connector which does not fit in the male socket where the off white connector is plugged in. The red wire with the fuse holder should be the power. The two brown wires slide onto connector and the other ends either went to terminals or wire nuts. The last thing is the hole in the lower box left side I assume is the antenna port. The question is the radio salvageable or am I wasting my time? ![]() ![]() |

If the head unit is not a US version (of the Bamberg) your are probably wasting your time. (red button indicates the ability to 'Record' on to a cassette)
Could be worth something in the Euro market. Bill K PS - I it was not original to your 73.

This is a Blaupunkt Bamberg model from '76-'77, used on the 930 Turbo cars. It's worth $$$, if complete.
You need to find the missing black plastic "band selection" box, which mounts beneath the dashboard. Technically, it's not the "correct" radio for your '73 (it probably had a Blaupunkt Frankfurt). If it was mine, I'd get the missing bits and test it to make sure the radio is working and sell it. Get the proper Frankfurt for your car for 1/2 the price. |

Here's what the complete setup looks like (pic is from a current ebay auction):

Bamberg.
We had a few of these in our earlier 911's.
Great period correct radio with the exception of the tape transport system. Parts are as we say in the P-car world are "non-obtainium". For those reasons I relegated two of these to the re-cycle bin. I'm not certain how it will work without the programing box which is missing. Also, it would appear that the unit only tunes to 104MHZ, which indicates that it is European. The 104-108 Mhz was used for "Der Polizie" frequencies. Best, Gerry

FWIW, the device under your head unit is the FM converter.

Your Certificate of Authenticity should tell you what radio was installed in your Porsche when it was built.
