Leaking oil line opinion/options

So, the engine to thermostat oil line on my 82 911SC is leaking. Again. The one I installed three years ago began leaking around October last year.

I replaced with the cheaper version from our host, which leaked immediately.
Our host replaced that one, which leaked immediately.
On the next replacement, our host allowed me to upgrade to the Porsche line (I had to pay the price difference), which also leaked.

So, should I go through the ordeal of warranty replacement again? Or should I just take it off and have a local hydraulic shop redo the hose while reusing the metric fittings?

Is this a drip from the valve cover? Could it be that the hose isn't the culprit?

oil leak

Kjchristopher, before changing again, buy a can of brake clean, spray the whole area,
at the hose and your valve cover, then check after next drive ,or a couple of days.
As 76fj55, says probably is from above, most leaks ,start high up and drop from there.
regards .

Its very unlikely that so many hoses have the same leak.

I would try the above suggestion from 76FJ55 and place a deflector of some sort to cover the fitting, then drive a short distance and check it again.

Following the results with interest.

get engine degreaser and take it to a car wash and clean the engine top to bottom.

then verify the leak source.

is there a defect in the connection of the other line/hose

While I agree that you should ascertain the source of the leak, it is my opinion that those lines are now very low quality. I would get a replacement from Porsche under its 2 year warranty.

Hard to tell if it’s leaking from crimp since it looks downhill from seat/ball end of connection. Try and tighten hose while it is totally straight, might have to have a third hand. Also check the seat and ball end for correct shape so there is 360 degrees of contact, use a paint pen or the like for easy to observe witness marks.

I had a similar leak that was coming from the #4 rocker that is not sealed by the valve cover just above that pipe. Here are a couple pics. Leak could be from bottom rocker or top and will travel on the back side of the timing chain cover and drip off the half moon circled in the bottom pic. From that spot it will drip perfectly on to the oil line in your pic and look like a pipe leak.

it can also leak from the chain box to cam tower and drip down, and get blown around.
the cam line can also leak and run down there along with the connection at the cam tower.

if it is the crimp then the line as at fault, if it is the connection it could be the other side.

Drip is at the Crimp, so unlikely anything from the rear of the connection.

It's either the crimp or some source above the crimp as suggested above.

A thorough cleaning and then a cover of some sort to spot any leak from above.

Wrap the suspected joint in Saran Wrap. If the leak is from the joint, it'll be inside the plastic. If from up above, it'll be on top of the plastic.

For small leaks try ATP AT-205. stop leak. Get it on Amazon. You will need two bottles.
