Question 3.2 AC bracket removal

I would like to replace the oil cam line on the right side. Which is under the AC compressor bracket.
From what I can see after removing the AC compressor from its pedestal.
There are three bolts attaching the bracket to the engine.
I did not find any discussion in my search of the forum with regards to the right side oil cam line replacement.
And no details in the Bently or 101 project book.
Thanks in advance for any insight at getting around or removing this bracket.

I think if you drop the muffler you'll gain access to the bolts in order to remove the bracket.

I have an M&K muffler but the idea is the same. Drop the muffler and pull the cross over tube. That gets you access to the yellow bracket that looks like an antler. My antler had a crack on the passenger side. Remove it and you get access to that big hidden bolt for the a/c bracket. As I deleted the a/c, I filled the empty bolt holes with button head bolts.

I did the same repair and in the same manner - I removed the muffler and cross-over.
I bought some new hardware silicon bronze nuts for the muffler from mcmaster carr.
I also committed to removed the AC bracket and store it.
You will have a hole there in the tin of course where the bracket was.

I was a bit shaky because I was afraid of removing too many bolts around the motor console, so I can't recall if I had to support the engine(!)
Once AC bracket was off, I removed the line and cleaned up the tin in front of the cam chain box cover.

I did have an unwelcome surprise as the line I purchased (from here) was not the correct form factor. I ordered OEM-93010734704, but they substituted 930-107-347-10-M20 which did not fit, so make sure you get what you ordered. cam oil line from host not correct

After that it was cake.

I would also urge you to replace the shouldered nut used for the other AC bracket (behind the oil temp sensor) with a 13mm nyloc & wavy washer and torque to the Chain case spec (18 ft-lbs) before you install the oil line b/c it is difficult to get a wrench in there, and this nut is needed for the chain case. I got a small leak down the rear vertical seam before I learned this.
3.2 Chain Case oil weep minor issue I hope

Big thanks steely and Snitzler.
Great photos, I was looking at the muffler yesterday and wondering how to drop it.

I replaced that same cam line on my '88. I removed only the AC compressor & it was really a tight squeeze to RR that line but I got it done. If you have a few tools, you may want to give it a go without dropping the muffler. It's do-able, but quite fiddly...
