911 2.4t break in oil

hi
We wanted to use brad penn break oil but we cannot get it for a week andwant ot start the engine this week.
would shell rotella 30W non detergent be an acceptable oil for startup and break in changes?
Any other recommendations?
valvoline or such?

Zddp?

Does the Shell have good ZDDP? Many diesel oils do have decent ZDDP but are generally formulated for lower RPM diesel motors. Check the oil ratings for the service classes. Lucas has an additive bottle and your local parts store should have a small selection of various brands. Many parts stores have the additives but the staff may not be familiar with the break-in products. Homework is invaluable here. As a nice customer, I had to find additive for a guy with a new 455 Pontiac that was looking for break-in oil on a Saturday night. I use Valvoline VR-1 Racing because it has the ZDDP already blended in the oil and stocked locally. You still may want some additional break-in additive on top of the oil you select with ZDDP. Make yourself brand happy. JM2CW.
