converting power to manual top

I have obtained most of the needed parts to convert the power top on my 1988 cabriolet to a manual top. I do have one question that I've gotten conflicting opinions on. Can the latch receivers from my power top work with the manual latches I bought? I thought "no" but I'm being told power top receivers will work with manual latches. Is this the case or do I need new receivers for sure.
