Dreaded speed control hang up.
Another solution to use besides the plastic tie. 18 gauge wire. Strong stuff, easy to work with .

I sure wish there was a source for new bowden cables for the cruise control. When I had to replace my broken one the used one I finally found only had one plastic clip left. I just used the X pattern and two black stout zip ties.
Your method works.

Kinda like that, may consider replacing my zip ties.

In my DOD job we used safety wire on many weapons systems. We used safety wire pliers That would lock the wire and then you could use the tool to spin the wire and then cut the end and fold it over. I sure wish I had that tool.

Safety wire pliers were for amateurs. Everyone in my munitions shop did it by hand to avoid the pliers' tooth marks and slight variation in twist size. (I think we have some background in common here that dare not name)

There they are!!!! They worked well. We were required to use them because they did a very neat job. Many times we would install a small lead seal at the end of the twist then QA would stamp it and then we would twist and cut off the end and fold it over . Thanks for finding them.

I got one too but they are not cheap. They are still available. I'm pretty sure I had to get it ordered from Porsche in Germany and wait a couple of weeks to get it.
