Underbody AC Condensor Source?
Hi Pelicans,
I need help trying to source an underbody AC condenser for my old '88 Carrera with 222K miles with R12 and original hoses, etc. it's still doesn't really leak but I do run it as a daily driver and the TX heat is exceptionally brutal right now. I think the dimensions of the condenser I need are 41" x 18". Has anyone seen these before and do you know anywhere that sells them? I believe the connections on each side are a 6 and 8. Thoughts? I know there are some kits out there but I think the underbody condenser will provide the most bang for the buck. TIA! ![]()

Do you mean the condenser that sits behind the front valence panel? Try Charlie Griffiths Kuehl unit. He also sells units you can fit inside your rear fenders. I hope this helps.

Here is a pic of the one on my car when I first bought it. I just removed the compressor as it was leaking but still have this installed. Trying to decide on a new system but its last on my list.

On my own car, I could tell when the front condenser fan quit working. Griffith's extra condensers with fans included would likely be a better option. I've got one now, which I purchased while living in a cooler locale. It works good enough now to not be worth adding, but had I lived in Texas at the time.... |

Call Charlie. Problem solved. Rear fender condenser is a lot more modern.

No one makes the underbelly condensers anymore.
If you find a used one, buy it. Seems like they go for around $500. I had one (PO put it on, I never would have spent the money), it worked great. Until it pretzeled on an especially high speed bump. Then, it was scrap...
