Question Source for alternator brushes?

Hello, does anyone know of an affordable source for replacement alternator brushes for a Marchal? I called the local dealer....150.00 per side, for a total of 300.00 just for the brushes

cheers

Not sure if this will work, but first try a good, comprehensive auto supply shop, you might be amazed with what they can order. Second, try taking your brushes to a generator repair shop, they might be able to match up something for you.

Agree with Kurt. I had my alternator done locally at a generic shop and he got the brushes and bearings with no problem. Total overhaul cost was under $75.

Go to the dealer for parts you cannot find elsewhere, and stuff like this can always be found outside. Fan motors, bearings and such are almost always used in another car and lots cheaper without the Pcar name on it.

There is no brush size that does not exist out there for under $5. If there were, you'd get an oversized pair and grind them down. Any competent electric motor repair shop will tell you the same thing.
