Fuchs Hub pad shaving
I have a pair of 16 x 7 fuchs to go on the back wheels of a 75 911s narrow body . The seller said they will fit but they will not . They are a 53 mm offset and I need a 48mm offset. on a limited budget it seems to me that shaving 4 mm off the hub pad should do the trick and less evasive than a fender lip roll.
But what do the experts think . Please. |

Do you have more than a 4mm clearance between the petals and caliper?

It all depends on the tire you run.
The seller is correct when speaking about a typical Fuchs 16X7 which has a standard 23mm offset. Are you sure about your offset? how did you get to that number? What 16X7 Fuchs has a 53mm offset? Is this a custom 3 piece wheel based on a Fuchs center? We have the same car, I’ve run a 16X7 in the back- a 205/50 is the best bet if you want to go low. If you want a wider tire expect to camber or be higher ride height or to run a 911R like I have. The 15X7 911R Fuchs had a 49mm offset. I have to run spacers to offset it to 31mm ET. I had to shave my caliper edges to clear a maxi lite 911r replica 15x7 this lets me run a 225/50 on my narrow body mid year.

In short, I wouldn't modify the wheel, or any wheel for that matter. Fuchs, like all old or performance wheels, should also be regularly inspected for cracks and other flaws. Have you tried different tires? Even within the same nominal size, the true section can vary, sometimes up to an inch, depending on brands and models. TireRack lists dimensions of 99% of their tires. Select a size of a certain model and they list the true dimensions. I would much sooner roll the fender or get a different wheel. |

All Porsche Fuchs 7x16 have ET23.3 keep the tire as short as possible, a 205/55 x16 @24.9" OD is harder to fi than a 205/50 x16 @24.1"
