1982 911SC 2490lbs
Hit a scale in my area on the way home from a C&C.
2490, only weight loss is no AC, and no CIS (if that saves anything) My only weight loss plans are: Frt & RR bumpers Rear seat delete Replace sport seats empty smugglers box and remove front blower motors, Replace bat with lightweight batt. Remove spare tire I think that should safely get me another 200lbs. |

Ditch the side skirts(I think the side script doesn't look as good with them on) and bumperetts(of you haven't already) for about 30lbs and backdate the heat for another 10ish.
A M&K muffler is about half the weight of the stock unit, plus it looks and sounds better.

Yea, the rockers will be coming off, already has SSI, and M&K and backdate heat. I think I should be able to get it under 2300LBS, without getting drastic which will be cool to me.

Nice, I figure if I can lose another 200 it should help the car scoot a lil better.... I haven't the Dr. income to do a 3.6 swap.

the difference in torque available for acceleration between the std 6 & 7 x16 205/55//225/50 and a maxed out 7.5 & 9.5 x15 205/50//245/45 is ~45lb-ft, that's right up there w/ the difference in torque from a 3.0 to 3.6

I have 8/9Fuchs 225 and 245 that look pretty good. Not sure how 15's would look, might be a little to beefy.
These cars are just too insane to make quick. If I was smart I would just buy a fast car and keep the Porsche as a Sunday funday car. |

Banned but not out, yet..

To save even more weight, if you haven’t already, lose the center console and backdate the heat by losing that worthless blower.

What seats are currently in the car?

Heat is backdated, but the blowers under the hood still exist. Going to clear out the smugglers box and fit a lite batt there I think.
The center console are already gone too. The seats are Porsche script sport seats, thinking I am going to go with Vallelunga which are 17.5 lbs. I honestly don't know if 200lbs will make any perceptible difference. Without forced induction or a HUGE N/A budget these cars just aren't very quick, more of a momentum car I think. If I can get down just under 2300# then get 240WHP out of a nice 3.2SS I think it would fun car to drive, not fast, but very fun. |

Good looking car. Long term my goal is a 3.2ss. Where is the scale?

200 will make a difference. To see, just put a 200 lb girl in the passenger seat now and you will notice a change not only in power, but handling as well.

Nice looking car! And still has potential for weight reduction without spending much.

On Rochester Road between 17 and 18 mile I think. Just South of McD's on the West side. Its some municipal building with a scale outside. I've been using it for years.
Yea, my plan is to sell my Mustang as an engine rebuild fund when needed. If I can do a hot lil street 3.2SS and loose a few lbs it should be a fun lil ride. Then again the ugly boost demon utters in my ear... for a few more pennies you get 100HP more than the 3.2SS. |

200#s of chassis weight is worth ~15lb-ft

LOL, that really puts it into perspective... 15lb-ft is nothing.
Maybe that 3.2SS money should go toward a nice Cobra kit car for those days when I want power.

Forced induction can easily give you more hp on the dyno but it will need expert tuning and quite a bit of work if you want a lovely engine with good throttle response (and you may not even get to the level of your current NA.)

20lb-ft is the difference between a RoW '83 SC and a RoW Carrera 3.2

I would love a big nasty 3.8L 350+ HP beast, but that would cost more than the car... Will never understand the extraordinary cost of Porsche engine performance.... America is so much better and HP per dollar. lol
I mean they all use basically the same materials and tolerances, but a 240WHP Porsche is the same as a 700-800HP Smallblock, or a 500HP one that will last till the end of time. LOL |
