Fixed my cigarette lighter

Bigger job than I expected. The blower came out with some scrapped knuckles but I still didn’t see the lighter. There is a duct which covers the lighter that has to come out, no mention of that in the Bentley. Easy to remove. Once exposed I found that the lighter had no guts, just the outer shell that the ground attaches to and the center hot wire had a piece of rubber tube to prevent shorts. How in the heck did the PO get the core out? Luckily, I had ordered a used lighter assembly and I polished up the black plastic bezel so it looked good. Lighter went in and I taped the whole thing to the dash so that I could screw the outer shell on. No helper. Wired it up and reinstalled the blower assembly. It took a lot of fiddling and pushing and prodding. More skinned knuckles. Success, the lighter works as it should and I am going to get myself one of those voltage gauges for the lighter. BTW, the plug from my GPS and my USB adapter fits tight. Will have to see with the voltage gauge

There is a bolt that hold a control cable to the blower. The bolt has a hole drilled through it to hold the cable. Why would anyone have a tiny bolt with a hole drilled through it is beyond me. It bust when I tried to get some torque on it, duh. Ordered it from our host.

Been there but I didn't break the bolt.
You can reach the back of the cig lighter and twist at the front at the same time but it is a stretch.
I put in a sleeve so I can use US cig. lighter devices e.g. USB chargers.

Got the new bolt from our host. Fiddled a bit with the lock washer and decided to use a fiber lock nut. Works much better.
