Great Fuel in Denver (not Racing Fuel)

I found a gas station in the West part of Denver that sells fuel without Ethanol (except Nov-Feb where it's is mandated by law for street use). They have 85, 87, and 91 octane grades and they are all Ethanol-free which means more power, better mpg, and better for your car's fuel system. Cost is about 10-15 cents more than other stations (that all use 10% Ethanol year-round in Denver as far as I can tell). They truck the fuel in from Trinidad, CO.

There are some stations in town that sell Ethanol-free race fuel, but that is 2.5 times as expensive (around $8/gallon for 110 Leaded or 100 Unleaded). If you don't need more than 91 octane (and most Porsches do not in the thin air of Denver), this is the stuff to get.

I was told that it's the only one in the metro area. It's not that convenient for me either, so I went over there with a truck and empty fuel cans and loaded up

I wish they had this stuff at High Plains Raceway.

Resurrecting this old thread because I made the journey to fill up at Brad's today and it is no more. Anyone know if there is anywhere else in the Denver area currently selling non-ethanol gas?

91 octane.

I was last there in fall 2017.
I think (and hope) they're still in business.

I'm curious. Is it hard to get fuel in the USA ???
Here in Australia. Our minimum is 91. On every pump in every servo we have 3 choices. 91 95 and 98. No ethanol. Unless you choose to find the ethanol pump which no one ever uses. 91 is about 1 USD a litre on a good day and 98 is about a 130 USD a litre on a good day.

No getting fuel isn't hard. However, in Colorado (and other places) the fuel often has ethanol added, which isn't so good on older CIS systems (and lawn mowers, etc.). Also, because of the altitude, the octane ratings available are lower in Colorado than elsewhere.

Also remember there are a number of different ratings systems for octane rating. MON (Motor Octane Number), RON (Research Octane Number) and AKI (Anti Knock Index). The US uses AKI which is (MON+RON)/2, where Australia uses RON as the listed octane number, so don't try to directly correlate the numbers you see on the pump with what are shown on the pumps here in the US.

I’ve tested the ethanol content here in my town and at 8300ft it was only 5%. Denver might be different but I’d bet most mountain towns have a low percentage to keep winter starting complaints down.

Just a note on the difference between US octane and ROW octane.

In Europe, the octane rating on the pump is simply the RON figure. America, by contrast, uses the average of the RON and the MON figures, called the AKI (anti-knock index). Thus, 97 octane “super unleaded” in Britain is roughly equivalent to 91 octane premium in the United States.
