starter rebuilds

anyone know of a company that rebuilds starters? Seems that starter and alternator rebuilding companies are falling by the side. We really are becoming a throw away society. I already ordered a new one - however now I have 2 SWB starters that need rebuilding.

Search for an auto electric shop near you. Or ask your local wrench who they use. Looks like there are a couple in Lincoln.

It's a long way from you but UPS can make that less important... Here in Connecticut we have an excellent rebuilder I have used a number of times and which does work for a number of good shops: Al's Auto Electric, Collinsville CT, (860) 693-4394.

I learned the hard way a few years ago that just like anything else, not all auto-electric shops are any good. These guys are low-key, do the work right and use the best parts. Best of luck, John/CT

Not sure where you’re located, but one can always ship, as mentioned. In Minneapolis I’ve used Auto Electric to rebuild both my starter and alternator on my ‘86. Worth a call at least.

We use our local battery store, two miles away. They rebuild our starters and alternators for $100-150 depending on needs. We always have it done even if they are running since it cost less than having a tech pull it and replace it later. A day or 2 turn around and we know it will fit and work properly.

They are tri-state battery in newark delaware if someone doesn't have a local place.
