Quick question re: carpet replacement/rear seat delete
I am about to embark on replacing carpets in my 1987 Carrera. I'm using the set to delete rear seat. On the rear firewall there are a number of small tabs where the rear firewall pad screwed in. Do you remove these tabs when laying carpet? is the sound deadening material on inner rear fenders removed?
Thanks in advance.

whatever sound deadening you remove is up to you.
But: to go bare tin and just the carpet, I can tell you, will be really noisy. It depends on how you enjoy your car. I deleted everything to bare tin and added some dynamat. what you can do for sure is delete the heavy seat mat, a saving of 5,6 kg When laying out the RS-carpet the tabs are covered spotless.

App biz makes a lighter internal sound pad, or you can make a cheap one

I put in closed cell foam from aircraft spruce up to the level of the metal tabs. That evened out my carpet when I did the rear seat delete. Check it out here:
so this is how a backdate project starts... |
