Tears for broken Turbo S
Sad to see such a rare car in this condition. Must have been a fun call to the insurance company. The rare turbo S is now a mess.

The inside looks horrible with blue everything and a walnut dash. Is this the only car that Porsche produced with plaid seats, i've never seen plaid in a Porsche before? I do remember seeing plaid seats in some Mercedes super-car a few years back though, anyone know what car this was?

i wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.....well maybe a 5 foot one.
![]() But seriously how much would it take to make the car whole again?

back in the day plaid in porsche seemed somewhat popular...
even to this day if you want it and are willing pay for it porsche can do it...I read in excellence they have gigantic binders full of ALL of the options you can do...and if you come up with something novel they will try to do it for you... but today's buyers just go in...say silver and walk out with plain jane porsche the early sport seats came with corduroy inserts, houndstooth (my favorite) and plaid too. I seem to remember some of the special edition cars and the one offs like presents to Dr. Porsche had plaid inserts RUF uberboxster comes with plaid seats... i guess everyone has their own taste... but with this car I would think you could weld on a front clip and have a very rare car...I thought these weren't even imported to the US...hmmmm |

The plaid is typical Porsche, mid 70's. see the first 3.0 Turbos.
The Mercedes with plaid was the SLR, road version of the Le Mans looping car. That said, I like that interior. How many black, blue or beige interiors have you seen lately? There's someone in Cali (R Gruppe) who has RS 964 buckets in his earlyS, Looks great! GeorgeK |

Personally I think walnut on a 911 looks wrong. This one also has a blue interior which I also think is an acquired taste, the pattern on the seat I could accept, usually the plaid/tartan finishes on 911s seem to suit the 911 to my eye. The ones that make me cringe are the rainbow pattern seats on some 964rs' and the checkerboard panels and seats on some 928s.

Actually not a bad car with relatively light damage. Wonder what it will go for.

What?!?!

What's the deal with the airbag? Is it stuffed back in? Is that a split in the middle of the bag area? I would imagine it would have certainly gone off.
And yeah, I've seen plaid in some Porsches. Though for it to look good I feel it's very color and car specific. This combo does not work for me. Houndstooth looks great. About 8 years ago, I almost bought a 72 sunroof/coupe with factory A/C that had tan leather with houndstooth inserts. Looked very good.

Much worse to lift it w/ a floor jack in the wrong place. The seller asks, "imagine what this car will be worth in 10 years to a collector"(?) Huh? Let's see, a car that is rare because nobody wanted it when it was new, (they were not exactly on waiting lists for these things), _ , and this one has a salvage title+ a newer front clip! (The part w/ the original VIN# on it). Add in the personalised interior/color treatment, and voila! Yes, definite Monterey auction material. I'll bet if you could talk to the owner that got paid out from insurance, he'd tell you that it was the second happiest day of his life.

Plus, try sourcing those slant nose panels from Porsche!

Apparently the fender is readily available from Porsche. The rest of the parts are C2 turbo. Additionally, if it goes for anything close to 25k on Ebay it's worth it.
Perhaps this car will go for a mill at Barrett-Jackson in ten or so years.
