3.6 conversion exhaust THAT WORKS!

This exhaust is attached to European headers 1 3/4 inch ID. Goes into 2 inch, equal length, primaries then into a 3" collector.

Muffler is an Ultra Max 3" in/out.

This muffler is quiet (but nice sound) and will meet 93dB requirements and make great power. Stock 993 engine with modified chip makes about 263hp at the rear wheels.

I am trying to get a group purchase on this and would be ordering in about a month. The fabricator will gig this one and make copies with improvements.

Any interest? I need to get pricing but figure less than $500 and more than $300.

The problem most of us are having is heat, headers are 3-400 (for a cheap set with out heat) dollars and any shop can bend the tubing to connect the mufflers, with no heat this would mean i only drive my car from may to october, wouldnt be worth owning, Kevin

To add to Kevin's comment about heat, the probelm is really with the exhaust manifolds, not the muffler. You can pic up a Flowmaster, or any other similar muffler, for about $100 and have a shop fab the pipes for a total cost under $300. A good idea for those who would want bolt on nonetheless.

IMHO, the real interest would be in an exhaust manifold system that would allow you to run cats, retain heat, permits the bolt of of an OEM sausage style muffler, and have equal length 1 3/4" pipes. This could easily sell between $1-2k.

Right now the 964 will not work, the 3.2 system bolts on but with smaller diameter pipes, SSI will work with mods to clear the chain housing but with smaller diameter pipes, and the 993 exhaust will work with mods to mount the right side but is more complicated with the muffler attachment. Of those options only the 3.2 system allows you to run a cat for emissions testing.

If I was going to design an exhaust system from scratch it would include
  • ~42mm primaries (slightly smaller than 1 3/4" but bigger than 1 1/2" SSI) ~32" long, feeding into stepped collectors ~54mmx10", possibly w/ optional 1 3/4" primaries w/o heat for race engines
  • heat should be flexible enough to be used on a 964 or 993 using oem heat ducts
  • optional cat with appropriate mufflers downstream
  • base aggressive muffler(ala Flowmaster) w/ optional muting tips, the std aftermarket ones have too little volume(a longer Flowmaster?). A sausage that would bolt up to the headers w/ either 2x1 or 2x2 would also be good(exc volume here).
