Throwing mine in there too...
Had no idea that I had 4 broken studs until i couldn't get a socket on my spark plugs to change them out. Took it down and split the case and replaced all bearings and serviced crank and rods etc. Installed ARP headstuds, reused the raceware rod bolts that were in there. Someone had rebuilt the motor and left all 24 dilivar studs alone (it was a 930/52 case so intake and exhaust had dilivars) when they put it back together. There were some other signs that they didn't know what they were doing too. I think I came out around $5,000 for parts and machine shop work. Took me a few months to get it back together but I was also doing ITBs and standalone EFI at the same time. Makes you VERY familiar with your car in a very good way doing it yourself. next oil change, while its all drained, remove the lower valve covers and check. literally takes 10 minutes. |
