Original Window Sticker Price Differences

Hello all,

I'm new to the form and I have always had a love for the Porsche automobile. I had a question that the interwebs was unable to answer and I can't find it here, so I figured I'd bring it to life here, and see if it can be clarified.

I have always enjoyed finding original window stickers for Porsches, particularly the 911's for for the year range of 1987 to 1989. That particular era of the 3.2 is my favorite and any information I find on those, I always enjoy. So recently I started looking up what the original base prices were for these 911's and I found a number of pictures people would take of their Original Window Stickers, that were scanned and posted online. As I progressed, I started noticing that there appeared to be some variances among the base prices, that is, there appears to be differences in the prices for some 911's, that are the exact same model and the exact same year.

Let me show you all an example and perhaps there may be a logical explanation. Below are two scanned copies of window stickers for a 1987 911 Turbo Coupe. These window stickers are for US models that are coupes, delivered to US dealers and again, are for the same year. However, the base price of the two is different. One is of $58,750, and the other is for $63,295. Now for the life of me, I cannot figure out why there would be such a price disparity. I thought that maybe it was a regional difference in the price, but they were delivered to states in the same area. I thought maybe it was a Euro Delivery option, but that's not the case either. This is just one of four price differences I've found so far.

If anyone can explain the reason for the price difference, I would greatly appreciate it. I can provide more examples too, but I didn't want to inundate everyone on my first post.

Interesting - all I can think of is dealer mark-up; Chicago vs. Cleveland .. or a mid-year price increase? (I don't see any dates on the 930 invoices)

Was a price change during the same model year something that Porsche did? That appears to be the only logical explanation I can think of.

We did not receive a window sticker for our
car as it was a Euro delivery.

Here is what we have.

The Window Stickers for European Delivery were a little different. I attached one here; from the same dealer too.

Possible reason: Historical US Dollars to German Marks currency conversion

The differences can potentially be attributed to the USD vs. DM exchange rates. Quite a change...

Another interesting thing about the first 2 you posted is the one with the higher MSRP also has a higher price for the options. Limited slip for the first one was $687 and for the second one was $741 and raised hub steering wheel on the first was $52 and the second was $57. According to the VINs the second one was 950 cars later so it is possible there was a price increase during the production year

I noticed those price differences in the options too. I guess what I'm try to nail down is whether or not Porsche officially changed the prices on these cars during the same model year. It appears they did, but I wanted to get a definitive answer.

We had a price freeze 30 days prior to build date.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone know of business that can reproduce these?
I have my warranty book that shows what dealership the car came from... would be awesome to have a replica window sticker to frame with my car.

My step father bought an 87 turbo look targa and he said he price jumped 5k due to currency fluctuations between the first time he looked at it and finally pulled the trigger.
