broken key

was going to let a porschephile friend drive and he broke the key off in the ignition! Had just lost my good key and hadn't gotten a new one made yet, this was my old spare. Rotten luck!
Can crank the car with a screw-driver. Any advice?

Two sturdy hat pins top and bottom and lever it out.

Strong magnet? Worst case get a locksmith to come to you. I wouldn't mess around with a screwdriver. It will cost you a *****load of $ if you mess up the cylinder.

Hat pins ... don't have any, let alone a sturdy one. Don't have a hemostat either for that matter.

Is the key broken completely flush ? No stub to grab on to ?

Finishing nail would make a good hat pin for me. Grind/file if needed.

Haven't tried it yet, but I got some of that super glue that cures instantly with ultraviolet light. Would be interesting to see if that had enough strength to do a temporary bond. Couldn't be sloppy in applying it, of course.

Wow. Sure never would’ve thought of that!

Dentists have used this UV curing cement for crowns, etc. for quite a while.
Would need an instant bond to try to pull the stub out.
