Glad to hear that you will still be posting here. Your advice has saved many of us from stupid mistakes and a lot of time and money. I'm sure that you will remain busy with some shop work and those "when I get some time" projects.
Glad you rebuilt my 915 several years ago. |
Best of luck, and glad to hear that you will not be leaving the forums.
|
Congratulations John. As others have said and I have found, you won't be bored (busier than ever!) now that you are retired. And I'm so glad you will still be active on the forum, your advice is held in high esteem by all.
|
Have some PNW style "apple pie" and enjoy retirement.
Remember, every day is a Saturday from now on. Keep repeating this to yourself and you might get used to it. If not, the word retirement is nowhere to be found in the Bible either as I've been told. |
It sounds a good game plan John. A lot can be said for not owning/renting g a building and needing to work to pay expenses. From home you can do nothing, or pick a really interesting project that pays well and is only a few hours a day.
Have fun! |
Congratulations John! The only problem that I see with this move is that you're not making the move to Austin. ;) We would love to have you here!

Have a great "semi-retirement" John. I've always read your posts with interest. I am about to embark
on my chain tensioner rebuild with copies of your notes & comments at hand for immediate reference. Thank you for the time & effort you've invested in this forum. Cheers JB |
Congratulations, John. Glad to hear you’re continuing to work and contribute here. It’s great to have a source of reliable advice.
|
Enjoy the change. Change is fun and refreshing.
|
From a selfish point of view, I hope your swap meet continues. May not buy much but it is always a good time.
|
The plan is to continue the swap meet.
|
Excellent John and thank you for continuing the fun. Wyoming hoarder not included. ;)
|
Marysville is a much nice place anyway - West Seattle is expensive, too much traffic, and the access sucks.
32 miles is a half hour when there is no traffic, but that is never, so, LOL. One of the nice things about the move is that if someone wanted to drop the car off and leave the keys, they could probably do it and not worry about the car. Not so much at the Greenwood location. |
It's a nice little town. A good police presence keeps the crime down, unlike Seattle. No tent cities, no soliciting. I'm northeast of Marysville proper a bit, up a hill in the woods.

Good luck to you. |
Back of the shop. Another carport in that garden area would be nice.

Wow! What a beautiful place !!!
|
Wow! That place looks perfect. Congratulations, John.
|
Sweet set up John.
I have to wait 4 more years, then do the same thing. Escape the rats.... :) |
Lots of organizing to do still. Why the heck do pics post sideways when I hold the phone up normally?

This is your semi-retirement shop? I can but dream...
|
When’s the open house? Great place, congratulations. Looks like a slice of heaven. Just remember that it rains more in that part of heaven than W Seattle.
|
+1 on the open house!
|
Perhaps you will get to work on some of your own projects?
|
Projects have been slow moving for sure. Going to try to slow the workload down a bit, hopefully.
|
Congrats on the (hopeful) change of pace and the move to a better location. 70? Bah, that ain't old..........
|
Definitely time to shift gears and cruze a bit!

Bonne Chance with retirement. |
Good luck John and best wishes in your new shop

JW, I always read what you write and appreciate the wisdom. I also wonder about that squirrel logo, but when I see it I know to read what ever you have posted. Good to see you are shortening your commute time, I also work from home and the advantages are plenty. I look at it this way: deleting a 30 min commute, each way, free's up an hour a day, good on ya.
|
Wow, that really is beautiful ! You could make it a B & B for Porsche Folks ;)

Congrats on your next phase in life. Your place looks unbelievable. Little slice of heaven on earth.

Congrats on a new phase in your life/career, John. I'll come up and visit the new place soon. Thank you for your years of institutional knowledge about our cars, your generosity, wisdom, and advice. Truly appreciate everything you have done for me and the community. Cheers! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

There will be a beer fridge. Not canadian style though.

Looks lovely John....You have earned it.....If I come from Cle Elum, I take Hwy 2 and back roads to pretend the urban area disappeared.......
|
Others have likely said the same, but when I see a JW reaponse to a query, I always feel that thread should be promptly sealed by the Moderators...case-closed, there's your answer.
John in CT |
Congrats Sir John!
|
John,
Commuting through Greenwood every day I'd fantasize about going to work in a small specialty garage; instead of where I was heading. Passing through Greenwood will loose a little of its extra charm without you. All the best. Walter Mitty |
With that lawn, I see a Porsche tractor (turbo ?) in your future.
Beautiful place. I'm jealous living in an asphalt jungle. I too, read every JW post with great appreciation ! Enjoy |
