Have I just entered the relm of the porsche maniacs?

Today I went out to work on my car for what seemed like the umpteenth time , but the first time since it's been back on 4 wheels in a long while .I couldn't help but notice the original paint (I think), the lines of the early cars. I just stood and admired. What's worse is that I then sat in the car, rowed through the gears, sawed on the steering wheel and made engine noises?

I've got a question for all the SCWDPers out there:
"Doctor, Am I insane?"

I'm sorry son, but yes, you are a certified Porscheholic. You need to find a 12 step group immediately or you will start thinking you need a second 911 for no reason whatsoever. It's a disease...really.

Tim, I sneak into the garage before I go to bed sometimes. I've owned the car for years. The worst thing a 911 owner can have is an attached garage, the pull is too strong

Tim, I actually climb up into my tub on the dolly and sit on an orange crate and do that. It just wasn't good enough, which is why I bought the second car. Heed Mark's warning or you'll end up like me.

I'm a doctor and I play one on TV. In my professional opinion you are infected with Carflewenza type-P, 911 variant. The good news is it can't be cured. The bad news is that maintenance therapy is expensive. The good news is this therapy can cure quite a few other diseases including terminal boredom, marriage, and constipation. The bad news is it can be expensive.

Did I mention it can be expensive?

An attached garage? I wish.. I live in an apartment with a garage, but i have to walk down 3 flights of stairs, and about 50 feet in the stupid PNW rain to get to my garage... and i still got down there before bed to get my fix. I just end up dusting or something. Sometimes i sit in the drivers seat and just space out. I am thinking about moving a cot in there.

Tim,

Not insane, but you ARE 8 years old.
That is how old I feel when I touch/look at/drive my Porsche, i.e. the age I first saw a picture of one and fell incurably in love!
It puts a silly grin on my face every time.... have fun, and don't worry.

Mark, your comments do worry me, since I find myself drawn inexorably to the idea of owning another (perhaps a 993 or an early car!), but could not bring myself to sell my beloved Carrera...
I am searching for ways!

Classic

No your not...some of us Canadians get to unwrap a present every spring. Pull the cover off the car and bask in the curvy glory. It takes a REAL Porsche lover to buy a car that has to sit for 5 months every year, but once spring comes you re-live your childhood allover again.

Put a remote camera in the parking space and monitor it via your computer.....next best thing to being there.

Cool

My wife called me a Liar this morning before she went to work.

Last night I told her I wanted to get to bed early. She announced betime, as some wives do, and see me upstairs!

I turned off the Pelican BBS and went out to the garage just for a couple of minutes of meditation. I immediately remembered that the floor jack under the 911E needed to be drained.

About 40 min later to bed!

This morning I had to answer about why I wasn't in bed sooner!

It's a burden.

Good luck,
David Duffield

My wife says I would take my car to bed with us if I could. Thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I mean it leaks way to much oil.
