Verifying engine and chassis number on 1967 911

We have a 1967 911 and are very confused as to how to verify if our engine number is correct for the car. We bought it in 1998 as a "barn find" and have lovingly restored it over the years. The numbers we have are:

306617

901/05 6679

968606

Please help us figure out if our numbers appear correct.

Thank you

That engine number is wrong. 2nd number should be a 0. Look more closely at it.

Matt thank you for responding... we finally figured out our issue.. we were looking at the number in the wrong direction (i.e. actually upside down)... our number is actually the period correct # 909896... thus the confusion since all 6 digits can be read either upside down or right side up... :D

Whoa. Mind blown.

It is quite possible that the engine matches; it is reasonably close to what I would expect. However only with a COA or Kardex can we be certain. I can assist getting the Kardex which may have more info than the COA. These days the engine & trans #'s need to be provided to PCNA and they will confirm IF they match. If you look at the VIN stamped into the front trunk and there is no S appended to it, if you look at the type box on the aluminum tag on the front slam panel and it only says 911, and if you look at the paint tag and the VIN does not have an S appended to it, then you do not have a 911S and the engine # is more likely to be original. It is interesting that from 306614 to 306619 all others are 911S.

What would a Kardex cost? I just received my coa, my 69 911e clearly came with the comfort package, yet it's not listed on the coa. Is that because it was standard on all 69 911e's?
