Vent Window Fitment Issue
Today I put in a URO vent window seal, which was a real pain to get into place. After I finally got the thing in, I put in my vent window. The vent window just will not align properly now that the new seal is in. The top part of the vent window will not push forward enough to be able to close the window.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, how did they resolve the issue. Am I doing something completely stupid here? I attempted to take photos of the window in question. Thanks for your time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've rechromed 5 sets of frames for customers, first set customer wanted OEM, fit perfectly and easy to get together. Second set customer sent URO. Fought with them for an hour, ordered Porsche and again, fit great. Since then only Porsche seals for any window frames I do, chrome or aluminum.
Solution is to return the UROs and get Porsche seals.

Thanks Shaun. I too fought with this for at least an hour or more. Bummer URO can't get this stuff right.

You'll notice the URO is lighter and poor quality next to the Porsche rubber. It has an odd feel to it.

Just received the report from engineering; they agree that the rubber is too firm and have ceased sales of this seal until we have a new production run with the correct rubber durometer. To anyone who purchased this seal in the past and had issues with it, please contact us via PM with your purchase details and we'll put you down for a no-charge warranty replacement as soon as the new run is available. It will likely be six months or so before we have the 2019 updated seals, but let's get you to the front of the line.

Quick update: We scrapped our entire inventory of the old seals late 2018, and ran our first batch of new seals with the corrected durometer rubber about three months ago. We have the new softer seals in stock in our warehouse, which means they're now available through Pelican. The new softer version has the four digit code "7082" or higher on the label.
If anyone purchased the old version of these seals and had problems, please contact us via PM or "sales at uro parts dot com" with your purchase details (purchase date, retailer, order number, name & shipping address) and we'll be happy to get you replacements.

I finished polishing up my 68 aluminum window frames. I gave the Uro 2.0 seals a shot and they were very easy to install with the window frame disassembled of course. They did need a clean up on the exterior visible seal portion as the seal lip that rests against vent window frame was rough and not a clean cut. I used scissors to cut the excess rubber off before installing the seals in the frames. The perimeter of the seals lined up perfectly with frame. A hole also has to be made in the pivot location on the new seal (just used a pointy pick).

Very timely post Edoyle. I just received replacement vent window seals from Derek of URO last week. He reached out to me and and was nice enough to send a couple of replacement vent window seals. Today I had the time to install one. The fit was much better than the original URO set that I purchased. Very happy with them. Below is a couple of pictures of fitment. Thank you Derek and URO!

Looks great guys, thanks for the feedback!
These are part numbers 901 542 931 23 and 901 542 932 23 for 1965-1968 coupes with hinged vent windows, and should be available from Pelican if you call and special request them. (The new softer version has the four digit code "7082" or higher on the label.)
