1979 SC... two fuel pumps??

I’m cleaning up fuse panel wiring on wife’s 79SC and discovered that according to the fuse box cover, there are two relay positions for fuel pump I and fuel pump II. Only the position for fuel pump II (at the angled end of the fuse panel) is actually wired; the position for FP I is empty, as is the window relay next to it.

Having just dropped the engine for cleanup & clutch, and replaced all the fuel lines and pulled the fuel tank to clean it up and re-coat it, i have only seen but one fuel pump.

Anyone have any clues what the other fuel pump relay position would be for?

Cover part # is 911.612.161.03 is correct for 79SC according to another thread i found.

It shares the same fuse block as a 930. The 930 turbo has 2 fuel pumps.

Your's is just as intended.

Ok thx.

If i explain to the wife that this fuse block actually requires a 930 motor, i wonder if she’d go for it....

"I want the 911".

Think it over. Just saying.

Tried it tonight, actually.

Got a couple glasses of wine and some chicken cacciatore with penne into her first.

Her response?

“Nein. Nein. Nein.”

My son pointed out that Porsche hasn’t made that model yet. And that was the end of the conversation.
