Like it or Not, 15% Ethanol is comeing

I understand in short order the President will order E15. This is strongly opposed by the Oil industry and car manufacturers.

For the time being, I have 93 octane 100% gas about a mile from my house...

Rob, come on. If he says we should do it, then we probably should. He's like the smartest person you know and really good at car stuff. Like, the best. It will help the economy by providing a much needed boost to the fuel injector, fuel pump, and fuel line markets. Sales for those items will skyrocket. Just wait. You're gonna be so rich...you have no idea.

This post did lead me to discover a cool app. Pure Gas shows you on a map where the nearest ethanol free gas station is near you. Pretty useful on road trips for us guys with older cars.

I wouldn't care at all if the state of California would let me up-grade to EFI. Heck I'd run E85.
But EFI in an old car is a bad thing for the environment.

I thought you could swap a newer motor into an older car in California (legally)?

you can, but it's generally a massive headache.

that said, you can't modify the engine you have, and any replacement has to be bone stock with all smog stuff present, and your car now gets smogged to the year of the new motor...

The report I'm reading says that the order will permit sales of E15 in the summer. Apparently that is currently prohibited due to additional ozone creation.

The idea being that there will be more consistent production and use from the refinery to the pump.

I can't find any articles claiming that E15 will be mandated.

I don't think that I have ever seen an E15 pump here in PA.

It's a strange thing this rule. What should matter is what comes out of the tailpipe, not whether a piece of plastic is present or not.

Take the political commentary to PARF. This is not the venue for politics

Not to bash the app but IF only it was accurate in my area - did some recon on it this weekend and it wasn't.

The number of NO ethanol gas stations around here has grown quite a bit in the past few years.
I have 91 octane no ethanol gas available at multiple locations around town.

Agreed, however the president’s move to all year E15 to elicit votes from Iowa and other corn producing swing states due to his tariffs affects all our cars whether 911s, F250s, chevys, Audi’s or what have you. I will not gloat about having an ethanol free station nearby because I know many do not and this will gravely affect all their vehicles. His decision to try to undo the damage to the corn growers will fall on all our backs and more importantly our wallets when our fuel systems fail. This is not political, it’s a matter of doing right for all freedom loving Americans.

opinion - "President's move to all year E15 to elicit votes from Iowa.. due to tariffs" according to Rueters" Because ethanol is cheaper than gasoline, the administration hopes it will bring down retail prices, which currently average $2.91 a gallon, more than 40 cents higher than this time a year ago, according to the American Automobile Association. "

Factually incorrect - blaming the "damage to corn growers" to tariffs or to Trump. Corn bushel prices in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 all in the $3-$4 range. Current price is $3.66 - Same as the last 2 years of the Obama admin..

https://www.macrotrends.net/2532/corn-prices-historical-chart-data

Tariffs have had more impact on soybeans as they are down 10%-20% in the same time period Current price is $8.69 and in 2015, 2016, 2017 beans were mostly in the $9-10 range. (high of 11.7 2016 - low of 8.65 -2015)

Not taking a political stance - just pointing out "alternative facts" to yours and providing citations.

According to the app, there an ethanol free station nearby where I live that has 95 octane. If I switch from 93 octane ethanol gas to 95 octane non-ethanol gas, will I have to re-jet my carbs?
