RSR Rear Quarterpanel fabrication
 

I am creating a 73 RSR tribute from a donor 1970 race car. Part of the original quarterpanels were removed and fiberglass rear flares were installed with dzeus fasteners. I want to weld in steel quarterpanels and flares to accomodate the 18" rear tires that are 10 inches wide and eliminate the fiberglass quarterpanels. Does anybody know of a good shop in the Atlanta area that is set up to do this kind of work on Porsche's?

Not Atlanta, but just north of Charlotte. Actual "Panel Beaters" who can do this type of work ain't cheap.

Real deal steel RSR flares are available from one or two European suppliers. I’ve seen a front and rear set and they are stunning, hand made, and absolutely correct in shape and contour. They are very different than turbo flares. Getting them correctly butt-wielded to the quarter panels is the trick. I’ve done it myself for my car using RS flares and it is *not* easy and I know of know place in Atlanta area that will butt were them, only lap weld which is wrong. If you really want it done right, ship the car to the metal surgeon above.

They are made in Canada as well. The outer lip on the RSR flare "tends" to be more rounded. Here is a link. They are VERY expensive and currently out of stock.

RSR flare tended to have a more rounded lip. The 930 lip appears to be more square. There are many posts about them. They are made in Canada as well. Currently out of stock, VERY expensive.

Haven't some guys massaged turbo flairs to give the RSR look? I guess it depends on how authentic the OP wants to be.

There's a company in the UK that actually has a stamping for them now. 3600 Sterling a set and they are spot on.
