Need help with an electrical problem at the positive cable please help.
I have a 81 SC the positive lead that connects to the battery gets very hot. The more I run the car the hotter it gets. Has this happened to anyone else? How can I fix this problem?

Hot is not good. Is the negative side warm as well? Have you cleaned the terminal, post and all the wiring connected to the terminal?
Wonder if you do not have some corrosion somewhere around or inside where the battery terminal is and is generating heat. Take the terminal off and make sure that you have a good metal to metal contact area, and if its not a factory terminal check where the wires are secured and clean under where they attach. The place where the wires contact the terminal should be nice and shiny copper and if its not then make it so. If you do not find anything at first you might check under the rubber insulation on the cables. I have seen them start to "bubble" due to corrosion inside and then its time to replace the cables. Just a question, but what led you to see if they were warm in the first place? Problems in other areas? Never checked to see if mine are warm and not planning on doing so... every time I work with a battery I usually ruin a pair of jeans or shirt!

do you have start problems as well
if its geting hot you must have a hot joint someone, either bad connection between the battery clamp and the battery terminal or between the cable and the battery clamp. if it just the between the battery clamp and battert terminal (more likely) you can clean this yourself, if it is a loose cable connection to the battery clamp you will need an auto electrician
the heat will only be generated whilst their is a high current flow, this is not normally the case but could be because of the bad connection you are having trouble charging the battery if you do have a hot joint somewhere I am surprised you are not also having problems starting |

a loose or crusty connection is a hot connection. resistance makes light bulbs light. so could your car.
