Fuel Pump Refresh - 1971 911T Bosch Carburated Pump

After not driving my car for several months (needs synchros, another story), I pulled it out of the garage and it just started dumping gas on the ground.

Leaking from the pump, behind the rear driver's wheel.

As we know, this is comparatively a rare pump as it carburated low pressure with the return line. Porsche part number – 911.608.107.00 Bosch part number – 058096 0009 I would like to retain the return line as I believe it makes sense.

Based on forum posts, I called Fuel Injection Corporation in Livermore and they will indeed rebuild my pump for $325. This is a pretty good solution.

However, my pump works and it is such a simple design with just a leak, I am thinking about just replacing the seal under the pump lid.

Am I wrong to do this? Anybody else done similar?

Mine is squared off, but I suspect it was an o-ring before.

Anybody sourced an O-Ring?

Thanks a bunch!

Fuel Pump Refresh

I have exactly the same issue. One pump spins but leaks, the other doesn't spin. I have not been able to find the Pelican article referred to above.
All advice appreciated.
Thanks

Fuel Pump Refresh

Wow,
Thanks for the quick replies Jamie and Lorne. After carefully reviewing these, my pump is on its way to FIC.

911T Fuel pump

I just received my refurbished Bosch pump back from Fuel Injection Corporation. WOW!
I just wish that I had sent the first one there when it started to leak or the second one when I burned out the motor due to rust sediment in the tank.
Thanks FIC.
