Sportomatic selecting "P" Park does not lock transmission ?

As per title, in every other respect works great...

Any suggestions to the most likely cause/s would be much appreciated.

There is a parking pawl, however they were somewhat weak and could be broken by putting in 'park' before the car was completely stopped. Not as strong as domestic automatics.

Ed, many thanks. I have one of these 92530301502 "lever parking lock" just incase however, could this part 92530313701 "Stop" be the more likely candidate ?

I guess it could just be a defective spring ! ?

Any clarification would be much appreciated.
