Impressions of Cobra Classic RS Race Seats?

Thinking of pulling the trigger on these light weight (13 lbs) seats, but am apprehensive about buying them without sitting in them, so it’s time for your butts to chime in. For about $600 with frame per seat, they sound like a deal.

So if you have these, are they:
1. Supportive for spirited driving? Don’t want to brace myself in the seat.
2. Comfortable for multi-hour drives?
3. Well made?
4. And most importantly, Would you buy them again?

Since stock seats weigh about 50lbs, take both out and replace will save about 60 lbs of useless car slowing weight.

Much grass, amoebas

Never sat in the Cobra seats, but I have a similar seat in my SC that was made in England by Corbeau. It weighs about the same and has slots for a 5 point harness if desired. I think I have the Baja Wide version. I am a bit over 6 feet tall and weigh in at 225 lbs and I fit in them quite well! Cost is about the same also.

Thinking about it as well, we have a distributor here in Charlotte NC, found them today going to give them a call. That is a great price

Cobra seats

I picked up a lone Cobra seat (same style) a few months ago and I have not installed it yet, but I can offer a bit of feedback.

It is very light and appears to be well made. I was unsure of the corduroy at first, but I kind of like it now and I might keep it (I initially wanted a wool plaid type insert).

I’m 5’9” and around 160 pounds, and I find it comfortable and supportive, but I can’t comment on long term comfort. Unless you are really skinny, the factory seat belts should operate properly over the rather high side bolsters.

If you end up buying a pair, please provide an in depth review.

I've had these for 2 years or so. Not too impressed. Not very supportive for spirited driving, and quality is poor. They are very light and very cheap. You get what you pay for.

I will not buy these again.

I had these for about a year. Very light, look the goods, and quality seemed ok to me particularly given the low entry price. Lack of backrest adjustment means you really need to sit in and see if they work for you. Like Nux I found the lateral support not so great, and I never really felt comfortable in them. I don't think they are a great option for spirited driving. As a comparison I'm much happier with some old Recaro LS-C's that have now taken their place (but much more $$)

Rob, you and I are the same build, and I bought the CS version which are a tad bit narrower, and not as deep, but pretty much the same seat. These are very small seats, yes they have some support, but nothing like a newer style seat, or a deep bucket. These are not race seats. You can check my garage, they show the seats in my car which for the most part look pretty period correct. So I would say these are more form over function. If I were to do it again, I would have bought a deeper bucket seat that is also taller in the back. I almost pulled the trigger on the rsr, and wish I did.
Is the 600 bucks for a pair?

Well went by HMS Motorsport today picked up a set plus all mounting hardware. I am 5’9” and 165 Great folks at HMS We set seats in a mount tried them out. Was a non issue seemed relatively reasonable comfort. Again these are RS seats your buying a certain look and weight reduction if that’s your goal If it’s comfort you want once I get around to install. I have the best pair of comfort seats coming out Brand new German leather covers in tan plus new bolstering done at time. Around 1400 invested in those seats They are in new Like condition seriously. Will put them up for sale in a couple weeks with pics. They are very complete and smell incredible Will include receipts
Thanks

Please post pics after installed and your impressions on comfort and support. Some respondents above had issues. Thanks

Currently looking at LeMans R Type Seats. Like the adjustable seat back and they look supportive. Over a grand though. Waiting to learn weight and if it will fit.

Anyone have experience with these?

That looks like the Nürburgring R from BF Torino. For the model you have pictured, that seat is a little over $570. I have heard very good reviews on their seats.

Hmmm if that is the case then Classic Touring Seats maybe doing a bit of price gouging. Going to BF site they are 828 British pounds which converts to over a grand too, so they may be one of the same? Nah, that can’t be right. But they look identical. Will call them and axe wassup?

They should fit, HMS sold me universal sliders for the seats, plus I needed Planted Seat adapters # pt sb052DR for 74-89 911s even though the initial measurements I have taken think my stock sliders may bolt right up to new seats and adapters
