Plastic threshold rivets??

So what's the trick for installing those da**ed flimsy plastic rivets? None of my rivet tools can get a grip and they just break...
About ready to just double faced adhesive!!!

If these are the rivets, you do not need a rivet tool. You just push the pin.
Or probably you did not buy the correct rivets.
Pelican sells these, this is the p/n 999 591 550 40

I got the right rivets, either from Pelican or Stoddard.
There must be a real trick to pushing in the center part as about 1 out 8 works- the rest the little pin bends or breaks off. VERY frustrating!!
Double faced tape is looking better and better- I'm not planning on a Parade concours!!

I would try a little silicone grease on the rivit and the pin.

Take one of the rivets to a hobby shop. Match the brass tubing to the outside of the pin and then find the small diameter rod that fits in the tube. Cut the tubing to a convenient size so that the rod is about three or four inches and the tube is about 2 inches. Place the tubing over the rivet pin, use the rod as a plunger and hit it gently with a light hammer tap. This will seat the pin. Don't drive it all the way as you may drive the pin through the body. Just get it started. After that pull of the tubing and rod and drive the pin flush with the hammer.

Check if the hole where the rivet goes is not to small. Probably the hole is to small and does not allow the rivet to expand.

Or use screws, if you are not concerned with originality.

Here you go:

Separate the top thin plastic piece from the rivet. It is only held on by a small piece of plastic.

Once you separate it, you push it into the top hole of the rivet, but not all the way in. You may have to trim the tip of the thin plastic piece to make it fit in the rivet hole.

Place the rivet in the aluminum sill hole and make sure it lines up with the hole in the chassis.

Once everything is lined up, push the thin plastic piece into the rivet to secure it in place.
