Custom DIY FRUNK Cover, Super Easy!

Here are some screenshots of a custom frunk cover I whipped up in an hour or so. I fully documented the process in this video:

It was pretty easy, and pretty fun. Definitely a project anyone could do in a couple of hours.

First, a cardboard template:



Then, I traced it on quarter-inch plywood in 1 foot strips:



Then, I cut it out, sized it, and finish sanded the corners:





I taped it together with black gaffers tape:



Then glued the carpeting on each side. I went into a lot of detail in the video about how to upholster corners well.





Finally, I flipped it over, removed the wood chips, and installed it in the car! I think it completely transforms the trunk!

I am happy to do that, although there are some weird angles involved. Weight is negligible. 1 pound or less I’m sure.

This is awesome, as I dislike the carpet just laying there!

Since I have some sewing experience, I was thinking of redoing a full "Frunk" carpet that was more fitted with some foam backing and "diamond" stitching, sorta along the lines of the Singer style.
