Just bought an 87 Carrera
Hello All,
I'm new to this board and certainly a porsche 911 newbie since I just bought an 87 Carrera last weekend. It's venetian blue with 72K miles, all original inside and out. I've learned a lot from this board by just reading past posts. You guys are great! Photo link: http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/dvngo2001/lst?.dir=/Porsche+911+Carrera&.view=t Regards, Dzung. |

Ah, the 87. Identifiable from the "snorkle" brake light. Great year and car, but what's your opinion on the mysterious moving 3rd brake light?

Very, very nice. That brake light seems out of place; but what is the alternative?

A while back someone here was looking into an aftermarket LED brake light strip that mounted along the top inside of the rear window. Seemed like a cool idea; I did a quick google search and turned up some nice possibilities but decided to stick with my stock inside-the-window light box for now.

Awesome car! Another Bay Area Pelican Head. We need to get a Bay Area FunRun organized.

Very nice... love the color. Is the interior the same color, or black that didn't come out too well in the pictures?

Congrats on the purchase. It looks like a great car. Though I don't know about that color combination.
Mine looked exactly like yours before the seats were removed.

Welcome to the board! Nice color. We have the same interior color. How much you paid for it?

Always liked that color.
Looks like the previous owner(s) took nice care of it for you. You be sure to do the same!!! As far as the third brake light? It was like a magnet to my eyes every time I looked at the car. Had to lose it. I'd rather stare at 3 holes in the lid than that silly light. Lose the rear wiper too if you don't like it or don't use it. Many cars don't have it and never have a need for it. Just dead weight in my opinion. When it's off, there's a plastic plug that goes in the hole. I have a spare plug if you want it. Congrats on the purchase!

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I definitely will take good care of this puppie and plan to grow old with it
![]() KLT, thx for your suggestion. I didn't really notice 'til you pointed out. Someone event commented 'nice rear wiper' and I didn't even know what he meant 'til now. Duh!

Andy, I paid $20,500. PPI passed with no probs. No oil leak at all. Did I pay too much for this Porsche?
