Installing fixed quarter windows
 

Not sure what the trick is here. I have new (Porsche) seals, trim is in place. I've soaped everything up and I can't get the window to push far enough into the opening to get roping to do anything. If I get the top in far enough, the bottom sticks out too far. I really can't get the bottom to push in enough to attempt the opposite. It seems as if to get things in the front grove correctly the top kind of seats first.

Even with the top of the gasket touching the pinch weld, when starting to rope it in it's not pulling the window in at all, so it's just barely flipping over the seam.

I'm attempting to rope in top ~ 2 inches from corner and then down the flat side. Flat side seems ok, but the rest, forget it. So frustrating!!

Any pointers?

You Need someone to push from outside.

Yes, I was pushing with all my might (wouldntday I’m a slouch) and my kid was pulling the roap. There is some left over dum dum that might not be helping. The gasket is so tight, not sure why it’s necessary.

Soak seal in hot water for a bit, use 12 gauge wire romex or something similiar diameter. Also a stick or paint can opener.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1542899637.jpg

Yeah, wondering if my rope is too thick and adding to the resistance.

Simple Green is slippery. May help the rubber slip in. We use it for mounting Kart tires.

Years ago a couple of us had to change out all the windows in a Prevost motor coach. That's like a dozen windows per side. After the first couple being a real bear, I thought it might be an idea to lube the seals with something that worked great for me on mountain bike grips: WD-40. We got the R & R of each window down to less than ten minutes each. It left quite a film on all the glass, but it was a small price to pay cleaning that off.

Now I'm not suggesting you use WD-40, but a good water soluble lube will make your job far, far easier.

I just installed my passenger side quarter window. Plexi window in the 993 seal. With my wife pushing from outside, nylon rope and Simple Green, took maybe 30 minutes, though we struggled with the upper front corner for a good 25minutes. Turned out my Perlon headliner was in the way, had to cut back the material for the seal to sit right. Plus the roll cage bars made working in the upper corner challenging. When we do the drivers side tomorrow I’ll start in the upper front corner.
