Anyone else experience this? Below 1000-1100 rpm's the radio will cut in and out...adjusting the idle with the hand throttle back up a few hundred always does the trick. It may be more pronounced before the car has fully warmed up (and hence battery not fully re-charged). Anyone?

stick a meter on the fuse block and see what voltage you have at idle. you could just have a short in the radio or the voltage regulator might be stuck on the high speed shunts.
check the voltage and post.

thanks, tryan
i'll get a meter on it tomorrow and check. the reg. is only 4 or 5 months old...what do you mean by stuck on the high speed shunts? you just knew i'd ask! is this a common reg. failure point? i'll expect to see battery voltage before start and 13.5-14 running with alternator online. ryan

the voltage is regulated by how much current is sent to the field of the alt. at low engine speed , more current is required to develop 13-14 volts. when your screaming at 6000 rpm the field current is shunted to a couple resistors at the base of the regulator. ie it takes less field current to produce the same voltage because the engine/alt is spinning faster.
is the idiot light comming on? dim lights?( i don't drive the pcars at night to often) aftermarket/digital radio? it should work unless your getting down around 10 volts.
