pics of my '74 mex blue project

I thought I might post some pics of my project. It is a '74 that I've owned for a while now. It was painted white back in the early 80's by my father. I have decided to put on some flares which came out very nicely and paint it back to it's original mexico blue color. I think the color came pretty close to original but perhaps a bit too dark. It will soon be treated to a ducktail form mashaw and I am debating carrera stripes.

I haven't quite got used to the color after it being white for so long. It will sure stand out...maybe too much.

How about some suggestions other than black for the color of carrera stripes?

Do you think the color is a close approximation of mexico blue?

I am thinking of a two tone black/gray interior. Carpets gray, the cloth sectino of the seats gray and the rs door panel gray. What do you think?

orange was always the plan, along with orange wheels and roll bar or cage. Plans have changed and the car will be used on the street alot more than the track. I have been thinking of toneing it down a bit w/ silver stripes and platinum painted fuchs.

I may buy a set of orange and silver and see what looks better.

I'll recommend orange stripes as well. Besides giving it the Gulf Porsche look, it would be a hit in Florida--go Gators!

Ed, the wheelbase will measure out to be exactly the same as you '84 targa. In fact it is the same as any 911 from 1969 to 1989.

I'm just kidding. The way that picture looks, the car appears to be "squished". I didn't spend THAT long at happy hour!

Looks great. A darg grey metallic decal color could look really good with that. And since it's kind of IROC-style, you could consider some of the less common PORSCHE decal types.

Hummm. Maybe slightly darker or lighter blue stripes? Kind of like the hot rod set likes to do "ghost flames"? Subtle touch, and obviously being 100% original and concours isn't your goal here...
